According to the report, on Sunday the director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved the advisory board’s recommendation to approve Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine.
Dr. Robert Redfield has accepted the recommendations of the Immunization Implementation Advisory Committee during an emergency session on Saturday and reported that people over the age of 16 could be vaccinated, according to CNN reports.
The Food and Drug Administration paved the way for emergency use of the coronavirus vaccine on Friday.
The first truck filled with vaccine doses was withdrawn from a Michigan facility on Sunday morning, but could not begin vaccination until Redfield gave a green light to the Advisory Board’s recommendations.
