CD & R Invests in Vera Whole Health to Value Company for $ 400 Million

Private equity fund Clayton Dubilier & Rice LLC is Vera Whole Health Inc. Officials from both companies said they are buying a majority stake in the company.

The deal, which will be announced Thursday, rates advanced primary health care providers at $ 400 million.

Seattle-based Vera has created a new model of employer-sponsored health care, where the employer or insurer pays a flat monthly fee per patient that covers all of the employee’s medical needs. In the company’s model, primary care physicians are leaders in a team of healthcare providers who keep in touch with each other and oversee patient health.

Mental health care and health coaching by nutritionists and other types of health counselors are integrated into Vera’s platform. In addition to being responsible for the overall care of the patient, the Vera team is responsible for controlling the cost of care. If the overall cost of care exceeds a certain threshold, Bella must return the money to her employer.
