British novelist Martin Amis has died, his agent said. Ami was 73 years old.

On Saturday, his agent, Andrew Wiley, confirmed the death from esophageal cancer. Wiley said Amis died Friday at his home in Florida.

Amis was the son of another British writer. Kingsley Amis. Martin Amis was a central voice for generations of writers, including his good friend the late Martin Amis. Christopher HitchensIan McEwan and Salman Rushdie.

His best-known works include his satire on London consumerism ‘Money’, ‘The Information’, ‘London Fields’ and his 2000 memoir ‘Experience’.

Jonathan Glaser’s film adaptation of Amis’ 2014 novel, The Zone of Interest, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday. The film, about a Nazi commander who lives next door to Auschwitz with his family, received top ratings at film festivals.
