Blockade Prevention Michigan Parliamentarians Test Positive for Coronavirus

A Republican in Michigan, who criticized Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s curfew, announced on Monday that he tested positive for the coronavirus and urged people to follow public health guidelines.

Rep. Tim Walberg, 69, said he was experiencing mild symptoms of COVID-19 and learned that he had tested positive for the disease on Sunday.

“It’s been over a week since I attended the public event. Working with health authorities, my office and I are in the process of contacting individuals we contact before self-quarantine begins,” Walberg said. Said in a statement..

“When we enter the winter months, I recommend that everyone remain vigilant and adhere to public health guidelines to fight this virus.”

In his statement, Wahlberg, who was reelected to serve District 7 of Michigan earlier this month, praised medical professionals and frontline workers in the pandemic.

Michigan reported 12,763 new COVID-19 cases and 55 deaths from the virus on Monday, bringing the number of confirmed infections to 264,576 and the death toll to 8,049.
