Bethpage Air Show 2023 kicks off summer unofficially at Jones Beach

Jones Beach, Nassau County (WABC) — The Bethpage Air Show kicks off the informal start of summer again in Jones Beach, Long Island.

Organizers are delighted to once again welcome the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds as headliners.

On Friday morning, under clear skies, officials gathered on the beach for the preview event. It was right after the spectacular rehearsal that shocked the people watching on the ground.

Practice for last year’s air showIt was scheduled for the day before the start of the air show, but had to be canceled due to a thunderstorm.

But this year, WABC chief meteorologist Lee Goldberg and the EyeWitness News weather team Sunny weather is forecast All weekend of Memorial Day holiday.

Taking advantage of the first official beach day of the summer, many people headed out for air show rehearsals on Friday morning.

A few endured the cold water, others secured show spots early, and were reminded of what this weekend really means.

“My husband is a veteran of the Air Force, so this is a very important event for us,” said Kings Park’s Catherine Bruchulelli. “It’s a great family tradition that we do every year.”

When asked how he feels when he sees planes flying in the sky, Jim Bruckleri replied: “It’s very exciting and nostalgic. But it makes me laugh…I have a big smile on my face the whole time. I feel like a three-year-old.” ”

By mid-afternoon, there were actually fewer people and less traffic than expected.

But the people there were as excited as ever.

“I think it’s worse than a roller coaster, but G-Force is crazy!” Copiag’s Jonathan Canada said.

The 2023 edition of the Bethpage Air Show will take place Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28 from 10am to 3pm.

In addition to the desperate Thunderbirds, many groups will participate.

The US Army Golden Knights will land on a very small spot on the coast.

“We’re going to land in the middle of a black and orange ‘X’ that’s about the size of a dinner plate,” Sergeant said. FC Morgan George.
