Bangladeshi exports surge 26.61 percent in May

DHAKA, June 4 (Xinhua) – Bangladesh’s exports in US dollar terms rose 26.61 per cent in May from a year earlier, official data showed on Sunday.

According to the country’s Export Promotion Department, May’s export revenue was $4.85 billion, making Bangladesh’s total exports in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year 2022-23 (July 2022-June 2023) It reached $50.53 billion, up 7.11% year-on-year. Export earnings from ready-made garments, which typically account for 84% of the country’s annual exports, rose 10.67% to $42.63 billion in the first 11 months of the year.

According to EPB data, Bangladesh has set an export target of $58 billion for fiscal year 2022-23, including $46.8 billion in ready-made garments.
