Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, Ohio State University Football Playoffs Ranking

November 25th – Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, and Ohio topped the first rankings of the 2020-2021 College Football Playoff, with undefeated BYU (9-0) 14th.

The first ranking debuted on Tuesday at ESPN. An updated set of Top 25 rankings will be released every Tuesday until the final selection date at noon EST on December 20th.

The final top four teams will face the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl respectively in the semifinals on January 2nd. Winners of these games will compete in the National Championship match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida on January 11.

Alabama is at the top of the 19th ranking, the most in history. Notre Dame had never claimed a spot higher than 3rd before landing in 2nd on Tuesday.

Alabama (7-0) leads a pack of four Southeastern Conference teams in the Top 10. Rival (and fellow SEC School) Auburn is 22nd and the fifth program from the Top 25 conference. A & M (5-1), No. 6 Florida (6-1), No. 9 Georgia (5-2) has joined the top 10 in Alabama.

Notre Dame (8-0), Ohio (4-0), No. 7 Cincinnati (8-0), No. 8 Northwest (5-0), No. 14BYU (9-0), No. 15 Oregon (3-0), No. 18USC (3-0), No. 20Coastal Carolina (8-0), No. 21Marshall (7-0) is one of the top 25 undefeated teams.

No. 10 Miami (7-1) is one of the three Atlantic Coast Conference programs in the Top 10. No.19 North Carolina was the fourth ACC program to land in the Top 25.

No. 11 Oklahoma, No. 13 Iowa, No. 17 Texas, No. 24 Oklahoma is one of the four Big 12 programs in the Top 25.

Oregon and USC are the only Pac-12 programs in the rankings as undefeated Washington (2-0) and Colorado (2-0) failed their first cut.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee, which consists of 13 members, will determine the ranking. The committee consists of athletic directors, coaches, former players and reporters.

There may be some changes in the rankings since the 13th week of the college football season. No.1 Alabama will host No.22 Auburn in Tuscaloosa on Saturday. The 13th Iowa will face the 17th Texas on Friday in Austin, Texas.2nd Notre Dame fights 19th North Carolina on Friday in Chapel Hill, NC
