After working for Eyewitness News for 38 years, Chuck Patterson will retire.

New York City (WABC)-Members of the Eyewitness News family will retire on Sunday.

News director Chuck Patterson retires after working off-camera behind the scenes for 38 years.

Chuck started out as a photographer at Eyewitness News in 1982.

On the first day, he was guided by a young woman named Andrea, an assistant to the engineering director.

She will later become Chuck’s wife.

During his career, Patterson also worked on network master control before returning to Eyewitness News as a technical director.

He holds a master’s degree in finance and has won four Emmy Awards.
