An altercation on a Brooklyn subway train on Friday turned fatal when one of the people involved slashed another, police said.
The 43-year-old victim was involved in the controversy around 8:50 pm while boarding the L train to Canarsie.
During the clash, the suspect pulled out a sharp object and decapitated the victim once, police said.
Police have not determined the type of sharp object used in the crime.
Doctors took the victim to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His killer, who has a gold tooth and wears a gray sweatshirt, fled on foot from an Atlantic Avenue subway station in eastern New York and remained free late Friday, according to police accounts.
The investigation is still ongoing.
