East Rutherford, New Jersey (WABC) — A water main in East Rutherford, New Jersey, broke Wednesday morning, closing part of the New Jersey highway.
Around 2:30 am, a water main failure created a sizable geyser that spewed water into the air.
The water main break occurred very close to the American Dream and MetLife Stadium.
Authorities were able to turn off the water in the area around 4am.
All eastbound lanes on Route 3 were closed and traffic was redirected to service roads.

The crew is working to dig up and repair the mains. Monarch his apartments nearby may not have water, but officials say they are trying to fix the problem.
There was no information about how long the repairs would take before the eastbound lanes opened. Some NJ Transit Bus routes may be affected.
