According to police and witnesses, a three-year-old boy died Saturday after plunging from a balcony on the 29th floor of the East Harlem skyscraper.
Tot fell from the E.12 2nd St. Building on Third Avenue around 11:00 am and landed on the scaffolding on the 3rd floor.
EMS hastily sent the child to Harlem Hospital, where he died. The child’s name was not announced immediately.
“I heard the Big Bang,” said 36-year-old Richard Linares. He ran up the scaffolding to find the baby. The baby was still crying and breathing when he got there.
“By the time the rescuers defeated him, they had a towel on his face,” he added.
According to a New York Police Department spokeswoman, police were trying to figure out what triggered the fall and were looking to see if the child was with an adult during the incident.
