100-year-old veteran Dominique Critelli is astonished by the Star-Spangled Banner

Long Island’s Hempstead (WABC)-A 100-year-old veteran captivated the crowd when he played the Star-Spangled Banner on Saturday night.

Dominique Critelli played the national anthem on his saxophone in an independence salute to Hempstead’s veterans.

Critelli is not only a great musician, but also a generous spirit.

“I’m always ready to help someone, you know I’ll do anything because they do it for me,” Critelli said. “I was very happy when they asked me to come here tonight.”

Critelli came to the United States from Italy at the age of eight.

He sees change happening all over the country and says it’s better.

The Salute to Veterans event also included a concert featuring fireworks and the Commodores.
